Peggy Harris
Decorative Painting

Peggy Harris is a professional wildlife painter,
designer, author, and teacher.
Her love of baby animals led to
her painting them, and public demand soon dictated
that she find a way to paint them that was better
and faster than the traditional hair-by-hair
method. She soon developed a system to create
realistic fur and feathers in a modicum of time.
This method has become known as the “Harris
Method.”
Using a limited
palette, gel mediums, the “wrong” brushes the
“wrong” way and some everyday items, such as q-tips
and cotton balls, Peggy teaches painters how to
achieve a wonderfully soft and furry look in a
reasonable amount of time.
Peggy has inspired thousands
of artists though her teachings, whether on her
public television series, “Peggy
Harris’ Paintable Kingdom,” or through her workshops
and seminars across the country. While she strives
to constantly simplify techniques so that everyone
can paint darling, cuddly creatures, her main goal
is to teach painters to “see” better so that they
may continue to improve, no matter what their skill
level.
Following the success of her
television how, Peggy began to publish books,
including “Adorable Baby Animals” and “Sing a Happy
Song,” published by Plaid Enterprises. Peggy lives
in the wooded hills outside of Nashville, TN where
she is surrounded by the inspiration of nature. She
travels the country attending seminars, conventions,
and Society of Decorative Painting Chapters where
she teaches her method to hundreds of appreciative
students!
